I still remember viewing an apartment as a prospective renter nearly 15 years ago  -- beautiful apartment but the stink from cat urine was awful.

If we replace, we prorate the cost to take into account ordinary wear and tear, and the life expectancy of the item.If the cats sprayed their urine in the residence, then the damages could be significant.

I'd guess Automation will be our next big hurtle.

Could also be old urine from the dead mice that has seeped into the flooring (especially plywood or concrete) or into the drywall.

Sweat and urine can both emit an ammonia smell.

Thanks for that info.Can you offer any insight as to the a) standard prefinished engineered hardwood vs. b) the 3 coats of poly atop solid bamboo or oak or some such wood to create the impenetrable surface re: water, dog urine, etc. vs. c) putting carpet in the three bedrooms and vinyl tile in the washer/dryer closet?

The house smells like urine and after asking around, I've determined that it wasn't a pet but the elderly former owner.

The walls needed repainting and the carpet wreaked of urine.
