Our contractor has suggested Engineered Hardwood for the common area because it's thicker (1/2 inch thick) vs LVP and so the transition from the bedrooms to common area hallways will be smoother.

I'm not picking on you in particular, but people need to get thicker skin and stop obsessing over meaningless stupid s**t and pretending it's a game changer. 

I get my bedding from Sam’s Club (we didn’t have a Costco until recently) and I get King sized for the King beds, and layer those with 2 regular sized pillows, two thicker and two a bit thinner.  

Get the thicker one, 4mm, I do not recommend any 2mm.

I would do the LVL on the entry & cheap carpet elsewhere BUT go with the thicker more expensive padding & it will feel plush.We have found most dislike the orange colored floor look & have been using the muted grey tones similar to barn board etc. 

I replaced the floor with thicker materials (hardiebacker between tile and underneath sub floors. there are two layers of plywood so I used screw to fasten them again).
