They tend to hold even when the property may drop, particularly if you don't get all crazy and charge through the roof (pardon the pun), and people will always need to rent.

I guess the takeaway is that depending on how long it has been on the market , it may still sit for a while or perhaps the seller is willing to let it go for dirt cheap ( pun not intended) if you can afford to sit on it.
