I'm of no use to you because I'm in MA and NH, not NC.Having said all of that, if you had the property under contract before you called the lender, you wouldn't have that problem, unless they dragged their feet so long that you were out of contract.So aside from J Scott's suggestion of finding partners, which is a good one, here is what I suggest.Ask all the real estate investors you know locally who they use.

He makes about 42K/year.His new landlord let him move in (with the fiance and baby) and had him pay 1st with splitting the deposit over the next few weeks.The road to his new place is terrible, we live in NH and they don't plow the snow right away.

That is just a small smattering of the local options that would be the most convenient for you but there are like probably 10 more in MA and NH that you can try too.
