I can tell you that for the memberhip fees, Lifestyles has a huge amount of live in-person, live-online, and recorded training, plus access to mentors to help you along the way.I would agree with the metaphor your friend has about "guard rails".

I like the metaphor about how we are the captain's of our personal ship. 

If you treat them differently - especially showing preference for one group over another, or steering one group to r away from a particular neighborhood, the Mass Commission Against Discrimination will have your head on a metaphorical stick - and they should!
