Given the equity you now have, I believe you have correctly diagnosed that your returns are probably terrible. 

I wanted to be courteous because they shared that one of them just got diagnosed with life threatening illness. 

@Justin Rea a service call to diagnose the problem can range in price but usually costs around $75-$100 just to get someone out to look at the problem, let alone fix the issue.

My parents are 70 (dad) and 77 (mom) and my mother has just been diagnosed with emphysema, and has had COPD for many years.  

My 7 yr old niece was diagnosed with a rare form of Macular Dystrophy last year and my sister is a single mom full time care taker of her.  

It was all kinds of bad and took a lot of time and money diagnosing it and replacing parts just to have to spend $1,100 on a new unit.
