If your existing doors are just in need of stripping, consider having them "cold" dipped or soda blasted to remove all paint and/or finishes.

After vinegar, baking soda, and peroxide before refinishing the hardwoods the smell seemed to all but disappear.

I also usually supply materials as well because they will sometimes buy soda, food, excess materials and new tools on your dime. 

No different from commercials that say a weightloss product will help you get skinny or a soda is the best tasting.

It's kind of like giving soda bottles a redemption value to discourage littering...

If it is in the walls and we know what it may be (tobacco, pet, etc), we have a recipe (tsp, rinse, seal, paint)... or if it is from the floors, we clean or even pull the flooring (seal underneath refloor, etc)...One simple carpet one I use is sprinkling the large (13.5 lb)  bags of baking soda into the carpet (if carpeted)... work it into the floor with stiff broom, so it gets into carpet to pad.

I imagine the worst: a neighbor who is trashy and keeps empty soda cans or water bottles on the lawn, toys strewn about, doesn't cut the grass, smokes, has excessive traffic, vicious dogs, unclean or untidy enough to attract and feed roaches, loud music that disturbs my tenant, or even maintenance like the roof or windows.

Whether its a hard print newspaper on their doorstep in the morning, or an RSS feed, consumers have taste in everything from clothing to soda to news.

My 12 year old decided to see if a soda can would fit down the hole in the toilet .
