Too many people who think that the McDonalds fry-cook must understand the restaurant industry because he's been slinging burgers for 20 years or that the guy at the car wash has to know everything there is about the automotive industry because he washes cars all day...

@Brie SchmidtIssue I have is that I can pay $5 for graph paper and a $2 for a ruler and make drawings myself, nothing structural is being changed in the house, I know here in Calgary, I got a guy who will do drawings for $500  Kind of what I'm looking for

50% rule: rent * 50% - P&II'm over here playing with my financial calculator, and found something interesting.Rent * 50% = what you want your P&I payment to be equal to or less than.You can use that and a financial calculator to back into how high the mortgage could be and, it still make money.So if there's a triplex that pulls $3650 / 2 = $1825, the mortgage could be as high as (brb financial calculator...) about $370k which works out to a purchase price of about $495k.
