Prompted by this thread I finally got around to reading the fire code on testing of smoke detectors.

I read it which prompted me to pull out one of my loan docs and read the fine print on interest calculation and it matches the article's explanation of a simple interest loan.

If you need the money back promptly and it will create a hardship if the payoff is delayed you are lending much more than you should.
