Smoke Alarms- Who is responsible?
Simple question, who is responsible for the upkeep of the batteries of smoke alarms? Tenants, or property manager? And to what degree?
If I hear a tenant's smoke alarm low battery beeping, and give them the batteries for it, but they don't replace them, am I liable if (god forbid), a fire or anything happens?

I put in 10-year smoke detectors that have lithium ion batteries. These do not have to be changed every year; they last 10 years. So no more annoying "beeping" for the tenants. After 10 years the whole detector gets replaced.
