normal wear and tear of a property; ie. touch up paint on walls, steam cleaning carpet is landlord's responsibility.However, make sure that the kitchen (stove/oven, refrigerator, sink, floor, cabinets and drawers) and bathroom (sink, shower/tub, toilet, mirror, floors, cabinet) are cleaned thoroughly.

This can vary from 5 years (i.e. computers, office machinary, some automobiles, appliances such as stove and refrig, and furniture used in the rental and carpet), 7 years (office furniture, office equipment, etc), 15 years (roads, shrubbery), and 27.5 years for new roof etc (time begins when work is done not when property was placed in service).

They might have broken windows, holes in the floor, wall and/or ceilings, electrical outlets (or even entire rooms) that don't work, "slow" plumbing, doors with broken hinges or hardware, stoves with only one or two working elements, or any other problems you can imagine.

I've had tenants move out that claim they cleaned a place all weekend only for me to walk in and find the stove, counters, etc., really aren't that clean.

Just use a non slippery surface.Tile behind the stove makes clean-up easier for you at move out.
