I would only do gas (propane) because of fire hazard, but them we live in a high fire hazard area (for about half the year).Propane is inexpensive and you can allow (1) 5 gal tank per stay, that should be enough for a couple of cozy fires after dinner and will discourage all night partying at the fire-pit.
