Those sensors can also be used to trigger other things if you have a smart home, where if you walk in a room it turns on the lights or turns off the lights if no one is in the room.Additionally, the newest ecobee has an added feature that has Alexa built in, which I think is not very useful, and can actually be a hindrance if you already have a Amazon Echo in that room.

All adjust based on time and occupied status through a SmartHub or Alexa, whichever you find easier.
