I would think it may be worth the extra money to rent and keep the workspace just that, a workspace.

I am interested in purchasing a property to use as a workspace/garage for personal use.

You need to invest significant capital into improvements to get the tax deferred benefits, but you'll have to see what the building is zoned for, in order to give yourself more options.You could create a shared work-space, if managed well, can generate a lot of revenue.Again see what the zoning allows for, but you could lease to a cafe or the like.

My team & I are looking to host our first meetup at a new workspace in Brooklyn founded by one of our affiliates (read more about the space here https://www.blackenterprise.com/innovation-hub-creatives-brooklyn/).I’d like to get a gage on if there are any local BP members whom would be interested in attending or possibly even being a guest speaker.

We considered renting an office space or even purchasing a commercial office but the market seems rather soft where we live and we thought purchasing a townhome would give us the flexibility of space for out of town guests, some storage (we currently rent a storage unit) and give us space to spread out in terms of workspace.
