Yesterday tenant called me to say there are mushrooms growing out of the ceiling where the mildew is (I'm calling it mildew, he's calling it black mold).

However, in the future, when this account mushrooms into $100k, $500k or $10M - the money will stay tax-free forever.

You Ramen people are all out of line.When I was in college I could get a can of tuna (protein), macaroni and cheese (carbs), and a can of cream of mushroom soup (flavor) for about $1.10. 

This comment is very apt and I am sure that there is a better than 50% chance that this thread will mushroom into name calling, strongly held beliefs, and all manner of red herrings.

The tax-sheltering benefits of a retirement plan, whether tax-deferred or Roth, are a means to take a certain amount of capital and mushroom the growth over time by compounding the tax-savings inherent in the vehicle.
