I am torn as to whether it is my error or the GC’s, who now says I am knit picking...

When you get into commercial properties if this size, they are typically owned by a who’s who of tight knit developers in the area.

Our daughter just turned five, but she knows how to sew, knit, paint, embroider, sing, and dance, which may not seem like a big deal until you wake up on the weekend to find your four-year-old knitting a scarf for one of her dolls that she made. 

Stick to your knitting and hire a pro.

So you can visit the basement, watch tv in the basement, knit afghans in the basement - but based upon the egress requirements you defined, it cannot legally be used as a sleeping area.So, if you do as you propose, and the housing police show up, you can try to sell them a story that you are not actually using the basement as a bedroom, and you really sleep on the couch upstairs, and you only visit the basement to assemble puzzles and play solitaire.

I also recommend the Renegade Detroit Investors club (in Berkley) for a closer-knit feel, and the Michigan Real Estate Investors (in Troy) for a lot of information with a lot of people.

It's a close-knitted community, I may offend the neighbors.

Have decided to limit to 4 units, HOA is amiable and residents are a close knit 'community' and amiable.

Those 3 have a close-knit friendship and association.
