Yes, it could be the signs of a certain personality defect, but it just as likely could be the sign of a young 20 something being "young n dumb" making poor choices. 

Sellers typically  become motivate when they cannot sell the property due to price, defect or simply bad market fundamentals.

Keep in mind there are plenty of not ready for prime time builders out there that will build a home that is not all that great with many defects even though its new.. 

That wouldn't be a defect because the house was built before central air existed according to normal and customary designs of the time.
