Well, for me I have used both products in serveral applications following the manufacturer's specifications without any of the issues that are concerns for you.

They can also send data to a remote computer / server so you can check on temps vs. time, water flow vs. time, etc.I think if you offer internet service to your tenants this would be a nice way to keep an eye on things (as you need an outbound connection to report stats).

{In NB, the Rentlasman is fairly equitable in its enforcement}.However if a landlord or tenant is merely serving a Notice of Termination coinciding with the end of a term lease or end of a lease period (as opposed to Termination with Cause), the wording of the act (which is very similar to the wording of the RTA in other provinces) does not appear to require the server of the notice - either landlord or tenant - to provide a reason for not renewing the tenancy.
