I have found that the best answer for YOU is what will allow you to sleep well on your pillow at night without thinking too much about it.

Nobody has that many family members coming and going daily at all hours of the day and night.

The rents are still growing on the smaller ones too as I think the rents compare favorably for people coming in when they look at a nice hotel room for 150k to 200 a night or a one bedroom cabin for 200 a night. 

He provide receipts for all of the materials' and we use tradesman at night and on weekends who want to pick up spot work.

Think I did around 50-60 total nights last year, and will likely do something similar this year...60-80.

In addition, be strategic about when they would stay - don't give away premium nights during your peak season for this.

But paying down a mortgage does let you sleep better at night too.

So I can sleep at night knowing I wasn’t trying to take advantage of them.
