Personal location choice and wanting to be a hippy farmer aside your time line based on your initial plan of a duplex, wait a few years, repeat is not even close to reaching financial independents in 10 years.Replacing a income of $100,000K per year in ten years is going to require 40+ doors easily at $200/month positive cash flow.

Seems to work well, they can use the area for decoration; battery operated candles and such if the cover is unscrewed but otherwise it's made to look clean, fresh and nice but not to be used. 

One of my properties I have amazing tenants; granted I do many nice things for them in return but they are amazing nonetheless.As an example they gave us a hand made gift basket for Christmas with candles, body lotions, wine, etc that they made.

Glad to hear you'll be moving back to the NH seacoast, though I'm not sure we can hold a candle to Ireland!

The contrived drama, lack of detail and overall fast pace of today's tv shows just doesn't hold a candle to Bob and Norm tackling old wainscotting or crown moulding or keeping a turn of the century house from sliding down a cliff.  

That's funny, I don't rent to Hippies either.

Luckily, I'm in an area full of hippies who would happily go for that kind of stuff.

The bald eagle on that tat can look like melting candle wax, but they will STILL get business, won't they? 

I usually get a Meyer air freshener from Home Depot and several matching candles.

@Brandon Poe you are right - the vast majority of agents lasts only a year or two and their "lifestyle" is typically burn the candle on both ends and talk to their clients at 11pm, or they are hobbyists and don't do much at all - under 5 deals a year for over 80% of licensees.
