That's understandable but I wouldn't forgo the huge benefits of diversification (including on the currency) and getting higher return overseas just because of the inconvenience of a potential tax audit.

This devalues the currency because of basic supply and demand, the printing of new currency units decreases the value of the existing currency units assuming the velocity of money exchanging hands stays consistent.
