And any other creditor or borrower can challenge the opening bid amount, as it should be real costs and has nothing to do with any appraised value or perceived market value....unless someone is cheating and that is certainly not out of the question.

I assume your people tell you "you're crazy" because of the perceived risk, ironically, I'd guess most these people have never left the US let alone been to Colombia. ;)  But as real estate investors it's our job to see things analytically and not emotionally.
