Hi Joseph,Maybe get with a local Architect, and have him/her walk the lot with you and then go from there.You and your wife will probably be very happy and exited after this, plus you might get some cost figures (maybe).Maybe think about a basement, as a storm shelter, play place for the kids and storage area.Texas is not a big basement area, but having one with the outside walk up might really make your new place special.Just my 2 cents.

But at the very least you should start with an feasibility study on a specific piece of property and then engage a civil engineer and architect early on.
