First of all when we opened up a lot of walls we noticed there was a lot of water damage and we had to replace a lot of rotten wood along with all new insulation on exterior walls and a lot more sheet rock then we anticipated.

The cold temperatures can result in really high heating bills, especially if the windows are old, furnace is old and little insulation.

Insulate the F out of that one wall for sound issues... 

Not only the equation, but programming that equation into the system so it adjusts the starting temperature according to the current gas and electric rates.)Before doing any of that, I'd make sure the low-hanging fruit has already been picked- LED lighting, water-efficient fixtures(sinks, toilets, shower heads,) possibly spray-foam insulation to reduce drafts, to name a few.MG

In his mind its done, but when things are obviously missing (like trim, insulation, even sections of floor) and he feels that's complete... yeah, Im starting to have a little agida! 

Also I would not want to be in a position where I have to compete with these new developments with a dated MF building lacking the anemnities and quality in construction (think noise insulation between apartments and floors).The single family market is a very different story.

Being in Alaska you will need a lot more insulation that say in florida by code. 

I'd stuff a small piece of bat insulation and then seal with scrap plywood.

Worst case the exterior sheathing, insulation, studs and maybe joist and sill are rotted.
