No accepted offer yet and the buyer (owner occ) is dragging their feet on responding to Fannie's counter-offer.  

I was called by the listing agent who informed me that my offer was submitted to the bank along with ANOTHER offer and that the bank came back with a "Highest price and Best terms" counter offer due to multiple offers being submitted.How likely is it that this is a truthful event given the quick turnaround?

I put a low offer in a couple months back and got a terrible counter offer.

Then the worse case scenario is that you get a counter offer or, if another offer comes in, you get into a highest and best situation.

Plus you have to factor in their counter offer.  

I'm not sure how many short sales Seth has done, but I've done many (from the purchaser side), and I've had many instances where I've had to negotiate counter-offers -- the only tool that's every helped was contractor bids.

I am currently in the counter offer process.
