The equivalent tools to Priceline have been in place for the transition you describe to have occurred 20 years ago.

I personally find that appearing as a guest on other people's podcasts helped to get my name out there. 

I have an old military buddy that did it and it appears he got a lot out of it and is now making money in real estate.

I would go to in-person real estate investor meetups (not masterminds) for six months without an ask and your partner or collaborator will appear.

At the time my only issue was their loans appear to be backed by wall st.. so the closing docs were enough to kill not one but two trees and took way more time to sign the  whole package then I like to spend signing closing docs :)  But thier fee's and rates are hard to beat.
