But yeah, use a pipe-wrench to try pound a nail, well duh, it's not the pipe-wrenches fault.

Attend a couple of meetups and speak with a few investors face to face, I think that'll give you a jump start on a fresh perspective and may also help you nail down what direction to focus on.

Sure the shingles run a bit over $100 a sq , but you need felt paper , drip edge , flashing , coil nails , misc supplies , delivery , disposal costs , labor , insurance , sales commissions , overhead , whats left is profit , and it it runs around 20% . 

If they can't, you could test yourself by driving a long thin nail through the drywall that covers the firewall and see if it hits "something really hard" about 1-1/2" in.
