Start creating some cashflow and passive revenue.

On sales, the owner portion has it's own basis, depreciation, capital gains and the rental has it's own basis, depreciation and gains.

There's still a lot of work that goes into the "passive" route.

The best bang for your buck is arguably 30-90 day trades and I would have made a ton more by having a shorter time frame, but I am happy with my gains and the risks required.Apologies to the op for the hijack but I think this relates to his belief that at some point the house of cards will collapse. 

Either way you will get a K-1 issued.For the tax issue please refer to CPA...but, my experience is that the passive losses will only offset passive gains.

$70K isn't enough to be more than a passive investor in a large group.

I learned a lot and maybe will come back to STRs when I don't have to overpay to get in, but I'm selling it right now and not looking back while I have the opportunity to offset my cap gains with all our losses.
