Or, you might ask for something else like the ability to do lease options in TX.You need to be able to express why the current law is a problem, articulate a tailored solution that isn't likely to have unintended consequences, and explain the benefits of the proposed change to the legislator's constituency to your representative (more likely his intern.)

In Ontario, you have one of the most pro-tenant agencies in the country ... as @Luc Boiron pointed out, you cannot even compel a tenant to leave at the end of a term lease.Here in NB, long-term tenant has a specific meaning in the legislation: a tenancy which has lasted 5yrs or longer.

I have a personal distaste for it also, but I recognize the right of people to do what they want (and take the risks they want), as long as they're not infringing on the rights of others.I hearing people say that the government should ban something just because people find it morally distasteful -- unfortunately, that's how bigotry gets legislated in this country (see all the recent gay marriage discussion).

It would be a great cathartic experience....ESP if we can include our mistakes & what we learned...Many of the very lucrative deals I did in the past seem to have been 'outlawed' by newer restrictive legislation but maybe there are some strategies that new investors would enjoy reading.
