I am in contract on a single family home in Victorian Village and wanted to see if anyone has worked with an architect in the Columbus area.

Need a builder to help me. My mother in law gave me a lot to build on. Help located in queens NYC

I am not very experienced with this sort of thing, but I like the idea of hiring a home inspector or an Architect to walk through the home with you to give you an idea of what violations exist and the estimated cost of becoming compliant.I would definitely stay away from asking the City building permit department, etc.  

I really appreciate this post though I had contemplated getting an engineer or at least an architect to help plan the build.

I appreciate the healthy skepticism regarding the low cost of the building but rest assured, I have planned this with my architects and contractors for literally over a year now, the numbers and prices are correct.

Purchase price + Build + Architect Cost = Ballpark of just over $1Mill.

Interview and talk to a few architects first @Rich M..

Get the land, find an architect, find a GC, and then deal with problems as they come about.  

My architect suggested taking a look at concealed mini-splits rather than a traditional HVAC system.
