I'm fairly certain, if you bought at sheriff's sale, that if someone redeemed, you would Not receive a pay off for the full loan/judgment amount, if it were higher than your bid....you'd receive your bid amount plus some interest/fees, and the foreclosing lender would receive any surplus.
