But it sounds like you are talking about a life insurance retirement plan (LIRP).

There may have been better choices for a rental at the time.

@Ana Escudero Property insurance renewals have been challenging the past few years, but there’s some stability with carriers heading into 2025.

I agree that the best way to make money is self manage your short term rental (not AirBNB, that is a platform).
