I learned how to focus on getting the job done and because I wasn't a threat to the end client's W-2 employees (I could never get promoted to the corner office), I could get away with ignoring office politics.

I'd encourage you to go re-read the threat because people have most certainly alluded to this idea. 

@Joe Threats  Everyone does it a little differently, but the trick is to make sure you do as much in advance as possible, and watch your lead times.

Sounds suspiciously like a threat...

Hopefully they take the bait with the foreclosure threats from the owners and accept my offer. 

I am surprised this threat did not get more traction.
