I would install one of those nice carriage lights in white, so that it balances out the window on the other side.

As well as remove one additional illegal unit in the carriage house.  

Just make sure that if you're buying an older house with an older carriage house that excise and license won't come knocking. 

This means you can rent out just a room while you're there, you can rent the whole place while you're gone, or you can rent a basement apartment or accessory dwelling unit such as a carriage house.

While the law specifically does NOT allow renting out the other side of a duplex, it DOES allow you to rent out a basement or attic apartment or a carriage house out back, if you're staying in the main home.

Lat last year, city council added restrictions that makes it very difficult to buy a property purely as a short-term rental and they grandfathered all the current ones into place.There are a LOT of houses with guest houses / cottages / carriage houses in the back in the downtown and old colorado city area.These are what we have targeted since you seem to get more bang for your buck.
