The house has a swamp cooler and the only part of the house that stays a little warmer is the converted garage.

If you can, do this in the evening or on a cooler day, because the A/C will be off for a couple of hours while you do it.If none of that helps, it might be time to get an HVAC tech out.

It's recommended to keep insulin at cooler temperatures, but it doesn't "go bad" over a short period of time not being refrigerated.For example, although I keep insulin I'm not using in the refrigerator, the vials and pens that I'm actually using aren't kept in the refrigerator.

tenants have some unrealistic expectations if they rent an old home that isn't super insulated and airtight.Even the electric companies and DOE recommend only setting the thermostat to 78F while at home..If they want cooler than that, get them a meat locker or freezer chest, and tell them to go lie in it.
