For someone to have done all that, they would have changed the height of the doorways.... if you take off the 1/2 or 1/4 plywood, then 1/2 inch carpet, you are looking at atleast an inch difference, there's going to be crack under the door.

Vikram,In PA, we use a title agent, and can either go to the title company's office (cheaper to do), or have the notary come visit you (that was nice when we had 12 inches of snow on a closing I had in Jan 2010).Different practices for different locations (states in the USA).

They only open 90 degrees, and most of them need to be bored into the wood, so it's not as easy to simply move the hinge down half an inch.

Jon Holdman I am going over all the Pre-closing inspections and it does not state that termites are there but it also says that it does go into walls if theres not 18 inches of clearance.

Do we continue, or do we tear it all out to the studs, or do we go over it with 1/4 inch sheet-rock, or do we skim-coat it?
