A lot of this and more is talked about in fine detail.

I recently became interested in real estate investment and am planning to major in a fiend in finance.

I LUCKILY have two friends who work in finance who share my interest that keep me from being discouraged.

All of these buyers can pay more than you and win.So keep looking on the MLS if you like, but the investor who spends 40 hours a week looking on the MLS and the investors who spends 40 hours a week looking OFF the MLS at things situations like vacant homes, out-of-state owners, preforeclosures, divorces, bankruptcies, direct mail, etc. will be world's apart in finances and investing success 5 years from now.

Originally, I'm from Dubuque Iowa but I moved to Chicago four years ago to work in Finance/Accounting in the Consumer Goods Industry.

Just because you have a degree in finance and you worked at some random entry level job for a corporate financial firm like Fidelity or something doesn't really give you any qualifications as a real estate investor.

Real Estate has always been my interest, and I live the "Business Owners" mentality anyway, where weekends and nights are just days/times when other people don't work.I come from a real estate family involved in finance and exclusively buy-and-hold strategies.

I work in finance for a new home builder in the region and am trying to expand my individual real estate assets.
