I was not personally invested in MF in 07 08 i had my own troubles.. but I did broker a 100 unit in 06 in PDX and that property did very well and continues to do well a matter of fact they bought at 5 cap and its running at almost 8 cap now that rents went up 30 to 50% ... were multi got hammered as I said was PHX and Vegas and some other markets .. but those markets were hammered  vacancy rates were sky high and investors could not debt service and lost props left and right ...you probably remember linda Gerchick who came to SF  and was on doing   big meetups selling 4 plexs in PHX in 04 to 06..
