Most housing is built in block construction, even during the major downtown I can tell you I tried to sell my home last year and tons of lookers but I made a decision to rent and the renters came out of the wood work it was like hitting the lottery and being able to be very choosy as to whom I put into my home.

So I save my own personal expertise for either the little things that will nickel and dime you to death - a loose outlet, a bad switch, a bad light fixture, a dripping drain line under a sink, etc - or for the things I actually like doing - woodwork, for example - or for the initial rehab work that doesn't require one to work around tenants or their belongings.
