@Charles Evans, definitely keep all paperwork associated with your tenant (lease, receipts, etc).For expenses that are not split per unit but are for the entire structure (utilities if not separately metered, mortgage interest, etc), keep a record of those payments so your tax pro can deduct a percentage of them for the unit you're renting.

Hi.On one of my 4 units there is a small fence on the side of it which is unit c and I have the teanent which has been there for 4 years.

I currently have 7 rentals units ( two three unit properties, an investment condo and a garage space) Currently I accept many forms of payment including Zelle, Venmo and paper checks.

I am currently living in one of the units and renting the other one.
