I've got my long term goal....retirment income in 10-15 years figured out, identified and traveled to a few markets I think could work. 

I would strongly suggest considering leaning into the niche of traveling nurses. 

This means, effectively that there is no 'fair' way to split up the cost of the energy delivered for the locomotive method of 'moving' that air or water/glycol mix.The other main hurdle here is that heat losses as the air or water/glycol etc mix is traveling are significant. 

Much of the travel to Maui is international.

I took a year off of the smokies but do travel there probably every other year on average. 

Even though the distance would be a lot farther to travel than initially investing in another Chicago neighborhood, I know the tenant laws are a lot more relaxed out in the suburbs, the average price of property is much lower, and it just feels like a smoother entry point than a large city in general.I'm very interested in multi-family properties to begin my real estate journey and have worked on putting a team together, so I am getting closer to actually acting, not just observing.
