The IRC has requirements for things like minimum room size, minimum stairway width, minimum ceiling heights, etc. which may end up forcing you to increase the footprint of your tiny home.

They are easier to maintain if you need to send someone on the roof and there's no wasted stairway space to paint.

The floors are maintained but the stairways reek of spider webs.

If its a long stairway (more than 12 steps) i like to use commercial carpet on the stairs.

You can blend the transition by having the treads of the stairway matching the dowstairs, and the risers same as the second floor, or vice-versa.
