-replace kitchen light with XYZ model from home depot, replace outlets with grounded and new plates-Paint walls eggshell Color XYZ from home depot 2 coats, base trim semigloss white- You can select paint quality as well if you care.I pretty much do this for every part of the house.

Having tried the smaller things like accoustical caulking and thicker door weatherstripping, I need to think of further methods.

These guys went to Burlington and bought 10,000 worth of NEW coats and took their boys to hand them out.

The cheaper softer vinyl will get destroyed much faster, and as others have mentioned a clear coat of poly will be cheaper than a full resurface and finish. 

The city also adds orthophospahte, a common food additive, to coat the pipes from the inside. 

@Alexander Schloe I’d be curious to know what type of water damage there is, how long has it been there, what is the likely coat to fix the damage, where is it, is there mold.

do you use 2 coats of paint and call it a day? 

Even a simple coat of paint goes a long way.Good luck, and let us know how you do. 

-The walls will obviously need a primer coat with all of the raw drywall.

My crews prefer the paint since it's better quality which often means less coats, less coats means less time, time is money.
