Seems to me that although a subpoena would reveal the true owner, at least for the purpose of law suits and the like if someone was suing me, they wouldn't be able to find my properties via public records search.

It does nothing but encourage the listing agent to reveal to other buyers/agents what the sales price homepath would agree to and then come in and offer a notch above that to take it.And anybody that has seen the Big Short can tell you that where there's a loophole in the system, there's a way for fraud to creep in fairly easily.
