My hunch is he offloaded a maintenance bomb onto a novice buyer who got all stary-eyed with the front facing components, playing the "well hey, I am just a really nice guy" card, waiting for buyer to repair and replace everything.

They employ hyperbole and lies to scare novice investors into thinking that if they don't sign up for their classes, they will lose money, get sued, get thrown in jail, etc.If you are considering a coach or educator and they are telling you how risky REI is how you'll lose lots of money if you don't sign up, that's another red flag in my experience...
