Im in this space and in no why would I ever gamble my mothers resources she will need on one of the most volatile, high risk aspects with a very high failure rate.

As in how many followers you have on your YouTube channel or how many page hits you get on your web page.  

Ideally would have iphone and web access to account.Would appreciate pointers both positive and negative.Many thanks.

I used to own three rentals in Seattle but after 2012 when the prices got too high I realized that sophisticated buy-and-hold investors invest where the numbers make sense with cash flow, not appreciation (gambling).

Gambling is short-term speculative play; that's flipping,  that's Vegas slots, sports betting.

Remember that a lot of revenue is built on relationships with return renters and web sites like Airbnb where you build a reputation. 

They had a rental/web portal that hasn't worked in the 9 months that I've been with them.

But knowing what you are doing should be a part of investing anywhere -otherwise it is gambling and not investing.

Then go to the city or county building department web page and look up the construction permits for those properties.
