I believe this must have been discussed multiple times over the years. and I don't want to reinvent the wheels. looking for guidance or pointer how to start.not sure whats the name of this strategy. 

Quartz is the most durable but also more costly.

Use the Wagon Wheel or  Daisy Chain approach.
