I too am new to this community and have a very similar background and goals.Graduated from Roger Williams with a degree in Construction Managment and have been working for one of the largest general contractors  since graduation (7 years now... whoa)My business partner and I have a similar vision of flipping single family homes in the northeast, specifically Middlesex & Suffolk county.

i would consider myself pretty creative, i have a great eye and vision for projects so here are a couple different interests i have for real estate.

Perhaps THE test would be can people with vision issues read it without their glasses ...My $0.02 ...

Early on it was me painting a vision for the seller about how I was going to operate and manage 'their baby' and how I planned on making improvements to the property.  

Also, tell everyone you talk to about your plans with real estate and your vision.

I would recommend to meet with a couple of agents and see if their vision aligns with yours when it comes to what properties have value.

I am looking for resources, tools, technologies that will help me make this dream/vision a success.  

This past year I've been really confused about where to start in this business but you guys just cleared up my blurred vision.

I just see it as a deal within my field of vision that could work out for me.
