Since these indivulaes had already been given a free pass they were the perfect choice to charge and impose the highest penalty.It is the requirement of business owners to know and respect the laws, not the responsibility of legislators to advertise and teach business the right way to operate.

@Matthew Ward, I currently do vacation rentals and I agree with a lot of people here, go for the house hacking route first.STR (Short Term Rentals) are great, but in my experience, you want to get one which the city has already passed legislation on and is open to them.

Federal legislation is paused (not being enforced by its) for the $600 threshold. some states have separate legislation from a few years ago where this is still happening though.
