The code enforcement official said that it was a house that drew numerous complaints from the neighbors for unkept grass and other nuisances, and also for being a drug house.   

That’s the inference I drew, so trying to see if there’s a continuity.  

Ours is zoned mixed use and the architect drew plans which give us two commercial spaces in the basement.

Not surprisingly this drew the IRS's attention and I was audited, with everything working out just fine.The bottom line isn't to advocate using credit cards, in fact you can severely destroy your financial situation if you don't know what you're doing with CC's.

@Drew Hollowell Another way to achieve the same result is to stay in your house and use the money that you were going to pay off your mortgage to buy an actual investment property.
